Welcome
to a web-site or a place on the web in the German language.
I have to say it again and again, how sad it makes me, that so many of
my German speaking country men, not only from Missouri or the USA, but
in all the world, call themselves Christians, even though they are unable to
give an account over what the Bible calls the New Covenant. Most of them
don’t, and this is hard to believe, even know the difference between the Old
Covenant of God and the New Covenant or Testament of God with the whole
world. Asked about it, they are mostly speechless and unable to say anything
about it.
The New Covenant is already mentioned in the Old Testament but was
not in force during that time period. Much of its content was however pro-
phetically revealed to the Israelites, the only people of God at that time.
The Old Covenant with the Israelites, was made with them because of
Abrahams faithfulness to God. (Gen. chap. 15 and 17; cf. Gen. 22:1-18)
The circumcision of every male was a part of this Covenant. It was to be a
sign of God’s Covenant with Abraham’s fleshly descendants (Gen. 17:13).
God transferred the same Covenant to Isaac (Gen. 17:21; cf. Ex. 6:2-5).
Later He transferred it to Isaac’s son Jacob who received the name Israel. He
was the father of twelve sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel,
(Gen. 35:1-15; Ex. chap. 19-24).
The Old Covenant, its people and all their worship tools or equip-
ment including their scrolls were sprinkled by Moses with blood. The
blood gave this Covenant instruments the power of God to fulfill His
purpose. It made them holy and dedicated them to His services.
“....without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Ex. 24:8; Lev.
17: 10,11; Hebr. 9:19-26)
Please read all the texts, so you will recognize how the Old Covenant was
in a sense a shadow of the New Covenant. Have you noticed something that
is also the most important feature of the New Covenant?
The Israelites were from their beginning on unfaithful to their God and
Creator. This folk lived and sinned often more than the heathen nations
across their borders. They still do that today through their disobedience to the
New Covenant of God. God sent them many prophets to call them to repen-
tance. He punished them to bring them back to Him. But it was all in vain.
They just didn’t want to obey Him. (Jer. chap. 19)
Like God did with all His Covenants, He had made the conditions and
the punishments, for breaking his Covenant commandments known. Please
read one more text before you get tired of reading. And please don’t forget,
that you are on the way to your redemption. The Holy Spirit will help you to
understand all there is to know about salvation. It will be the greatest blessing
of your life when you stand before the Judgement seat of Christ to have
obeyed Him in everything. That is true for the young and the older seekers
of forgiveness of their sins.
So please read Lev. Chap. 26 yet. What do you think about verses 44
and 45? Because of the coming of the New Covenant, God didn’t want to act
any other way. More about this in a later Thesis.
We hope and pray, that you have the will and the courage to continue to
study these lessons. Sometimes it may seem boring, but as you learn and un-
derstand more, it becomes easier. You will find, that your real spiritual home
is found through the Bible. It is like driving a car. At first it is hard in traffic.
If one continues however it becomes more and more a pleasure. I also would
like to see the day in which I don’t have to address you as Mr. or Mrs. be-
cause we have become Geschwister i.e. brethren in the Lord. That will be a
great day of joy. Not only for me and you, but also for the Lord Jesus and all
His angels. (Lk. 15:7) You will have crossed over from being spiritually
dead to having eternal life already beginning in this life time. More about this
point in a later Thesis.
Questions you will be able to answer now:
- Do you know the difference between the Old and the New Covenant or Tes-
taments which God provided____ _____?
- Did God always proclaim the conditions of His Covenants before they be-
came effective_____ ____?
